The NPSIA Benefit Soirée is NPSIA’s annual black-tie charity fundraiser and largest social event. Each year our graduate students invite a distinguished guest to deliver a keynote speech, preceded by a formal dinner, as a means of promoting discussion about current issues while supporting a valued charity. The event is attended by members of the academic community, prominent members of the Canadian government, foreign diplomats, the business community and the student body.
At the Benefit Soirée of 2014, we are honoured to host Michael Ignatieff as our keynote speaker. A Canadian writer, teacher and former politician, Mr. Ignatieff holds a doctorate in history from Harvard University and has held academic posts at King’s College, Cambridge and at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He also served in the Parliament of Canada and was Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. Mr. Ignatieff currently holds a joint professorial appointment at the Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto and at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He also holds the Centennial Chair at the Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs in New York. All proceeds from this year’s Soirée Benefit will go to Heifer International, a charity organization working to end hunger and poverty around the world by providing livestock and training to struggling communities.
